
I Don't Want To Be Like This With My Child
You know the moment. You've finally made it to bedtime. Your child is nearly settled. And then: "Mummy, don't go."
And before you've had time to think, the sigh comes out. Maybe a small eye roll. And then, almost immediately, the guilt.
In this episode, I talk honestly about what's happening at the end of a depleted day when your child reaches for you at exactly the moment you need them not to. It's what happens when someone who has been giving all day runs into one more request before they can stop.
I look at why trying to push through and hide the irritation often makes things worse, and what becomes possible when you can see both your child's need and your own as equally real, rather than as opposite sides of a problem to solve.
I also share my Admit, Accept, Allow approach, which helps you find something between forcing yourself to carry on and leaving in a way you end up regretting.
